lookup should support globbing, range, or regex

Description

The way that the current lookup function works is difficult to operate on large numbers of objects. The major reason is that it does not fully support the above stated methods. If it can support below syntax that would be great.

object -l name n0*
object -l name n0[134-258]
object -l name n000[0-9][1-5]

Also the current command/option mixture type of syntax is always confusing me. It would be much much better if the syntax could support "object -l name=n0000", "object -l id=12,13" or similar.

This all works with the exception of globbing because that is a very different problem to solve code wise. Closing ticket for now, but also knowing that globbing is a feature that may perhaps come at a much later time.
